BEST BREAKFAST, MELBOURNE

LAS CHICAS, CARSLILE STREET

Written on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 by georgi :: 0 comments to this post

Is bigger necessarily better? Las Chicas has always been a favourite of ours for breakfast. All though, since their renovations which included expanding into next door, we havent had a chance to go in. They are always too busy which is a good sign. Its just that I cant see the point in lining up for a club, let alone for breakfast. This morning as we were cruising Carslile Street we noticed that there was no queue. It must have been early. A baby wont let you enjoy those weekend sleep-ins any more. Read on…

BREAKFAST IN BRIGHTON, MELBOURNE

BOSSY BOOTS CAFE AND FOODSTORE, BAY ST, BRIGHTON.

BOSSY BOOTS
Unfortunately there are no photos to accompany this article because the staff at this café were so rude that they made me remove them from my camera, stating that they did not want pictures taken of their work. How can people be so arrogant! It made me very angry. I thought it would be good business sense, especially when you have only been open for a couple of months, to get any exposure you can. I was just trying to do something good for them. I explained what they were for but still they didn’t budge. Their loss I guess, which is a shame because it was actually quite a nice little place.

Church Street Pantry, Brighton

Written on Saturday, April 21st, 2007 by georgi :: 1 comments to this post

Having recently had a baby, going out for dinner was no longer on the top of our list of things to do. But then again, being home every night was beginning to send me crazy. The dilemma was choosing a restaurant that would not only satisfy our taste but also not mind a very little one in tow. The Pantry in Brighton popped into my head. Not in Brighton daaarling, you might think, but that couldnt be further from the truth. Read on…

Mullata

Walking along Windsor end of Chapel Street late last year, I noticed a little restaurant appear amongst the second hand stores. Mulatta was hand painted on the door and inside looked warm and inviting. Ive always dreamt of stumbling across an unassuming small restaurant that serves great food.

best pizza in st kilda

It was no surprise to walk into I carusi on a warm Friday night and find it full. The friendly floor staff did a quick once around and informed us that there were a possible two tables about to leave. We were happy to sit at the very small area by the doorway drinking wine from tumblers. It allowed us to watch the art of pizza making up close. I wondered how many pizzas a pizza maker could make in one night. His hands were quick and mesmerisingly skillfull.
